Acme Oyster House

Famouse New Orleans Seafood. Very famous for the oyster po boy, which we tried. Also hushpuppies. Hmmm. Well, the coleslaw was really good, the atmosphere was truly New Orleans. The food was good and very reasonable.

Best place to dine with a longshoreman, a movie star, a co-ed and a tourist. The burgers were really good. We think that the cook goes up to the roof to barbeque, but we're not really sure. Our friend Patti had a jalepeno and avacado burger that was fantastic. Well worth it, and very reasonable.

This place is known for it's fried chicken and this is some really great fried chicken. It is considered the best in New Orleans. We tried it out, and it was great. Don't expect any vegetables though, when we asked our server where they were she acted surprised and said "folks don't usually want them."

K-Paul's Louisiana Cuisine
|
|
Oh my. This was our favorite restaurant in New Orleans. The food was absolutely fantastic, the service was outstanding, and the New Orleans horn band that marched through the dining room made this a quintessential New Orleans experience. As well, there is a paper table cloth with recipes on it, and they all start off with a pound of butter. We recommend that you get a hotel with a gym to work it off, it is so worth it! Try the fried green tomatoes.

Fire of Brazil

This is a really great break from the heavy (albeit delicious) fare in New Orleans. You can actually have just the salad bar that has an amazing assortment of vegetables (yes, vegetables). If you have room, the roving gauchos can bring you freshly roasted beef, chicken, lamb or pork. Definitely a meat eaters delight. Really yummy.

Bywater Bar.B.Que/Lorenzo's

|
Gay restaurant of the year, located in the Bywater/Mirgny District, this restaurant serves southern food with a Mexican flare. Critics rave about the crawfish quesadilla. Vegetarians take note, there are choices on the menu just for you. NOTE: Dining Hours are Tuesday through Sunday lunch and dinner! This also was a cash only place at the time it may have changed.
