Almost anything at REDCAT theatre, The Roy And Edna Disney CalArts Theatre, is an experimental theatre that is housed in the bottom of the Disney Hall downtown. The Frank Gehry building itself is a photo-op and amazing to see. Everytime I go to REDCAT and see some Dance troupe visiting from Tijuana Mexico, it restores my faith in the arts scene of Los Angeles and reminds me that the town is so much more than just the entertainment and porno industry.
They have a bar and wireless there as well so you can hang out before the show. And-YET ANOTHER PERK--there's an art gallery with world-class installations, says featured artist Lauren Weedman. Feature artist Lionel Popkin says, REDCAT is downtown and always worth looking into.

The Museums here-almost all of them-are so good. It's not very 'off the beaten track' but The Hammer museum is another great small modern art museum on the west side. And you could literally stop there-on way down Wilshire heading towards the beach-and duck in for less than an hour-fill your soul and take off, says featured artist Lauren Weedman.

The Bootleg Theatre is another theatre downtown that can have some interesting stuff. I can never figure out what's a show that's just rented the space (and therefore could be NOT SO GOOD) and what's produced by them...but check it out. Near downtown and Silverlake. The theatre is in an old Bra factory, says feature artist Lauren Weedman.

Usually I hate being a part of masses of people----and outdoors music festivals have traumatized me from years of seeing drunken fights and throwing up.
But if you're here when the Hollywood Bowl is happening-you should go. Again-this isn't some big kept secret-but I've never regretted going to the bowl. And do the whole-bring a picnic and wine FOR SURE and get there an hour early to picnic, says featured artist Lauren Weedman.
